Khan氏は平成15年11月24日に来日し、しばらくは環境を整えるのに時間を費やした。もともとBelle実験で博士号を取得したとは言え、当時は測定器の建設段階であり、数年間のブランクもあったので、現在は、Belle解析システムにも慣れ、φ2の測定に向けて研究をスタートさせた段階である。Khan氏は、来日前からネットワークを通じてBellenoteや論文を勉強して来ただけあって吸収は早く、Belleメンバーからφ2解析に必要なフレーバータグの方法やコンティニューム(bクォーク以外のクォークの生成)の抑制の改善版などのノウハウを身につけ、さらに改良可能かどうか試すことにしている。(終状態がありふれたπ中間子なので、コンティニュームからのバックグランドの抑制がとくに重要である。)当初の予定ではKhan氏はB中間子のρπ崩壊モードを中心に解析する予定であったが、別のメンバーがこのモードにりいて既にかなり解析を進めていたため、a_1πモードを主に解析してφ2測定に挑むことになった。現在、そのモードを抽出するプログラムを作成中である。a_1πモードは最終状態に4つのπ中間子を含み、その内の一つはπ^0であるので、さらに解析が困難であるが、どのくらいの感度が得られるかなどのモンテカルロスタデイも進めているところである。したがって、まだ結果を得るまでには至っていない。発表論文は、研究代表者他のこれまでのものであり、Khan氏が直接貢献した発表論文はまだこれからである。
