「冷温帯林生態系における土壌炭素貯留量を広域・高精度に推定する手法の開発」に関する研究は2003年10月12日開始以後、2004年3月末までの間に主に以下のように進んでいる。土壌サンプラーの開発と利用は本研究の手法開発上重要な部分である。さらに幅広く利用できる便利な土壌サンプラーの開発を目指し、改善型土壌サンプラーの設計が完了し(2003,10〜2004,2)、来年度現地の土壌調査で利用できるように岐阜大学実験工場に依頼して試作している。また、「特定土層調査法」を検討するために高山試験林において土壌炭素貯留量の再調査(2003,11)を行い、現在は結果の整理及び要因解明中である。衛星画像及び航空写真を利用し、4月から高山試験林周辺一帯、植生類型・土壌類型を多く含む森林生態系における土壌炭素貯留量の調査を行うために、3月から各資料の収集・画像処理・分類、調査道具の準備などを行っている。その他、2003年10月に高山市で開催したSynthesis Workshop on the Carbon Budget in Asian monitoring Network --The decennial anniversary of the observation at Takayama site--で"Development of a precise and unifying estimation method for forest ecosystem carbon storage and a new simple-quick survey method for soil carbon storage"について発表した。また、2003年11月福山市で開催したシステム農学会2003年秋季シシポジウム・一般研究発表会で「冷温帯落葉広葉樹林の炭素循環 10.土壌中CO2ガス濃度の測定及び変動」について発表した。論文「冷温帯林土壌圏の炭素動態 3.特定土層に基づく土壌炭素貯留量の簡便調査・推定法」はシステム農学に受理され、20巻2号(2004,10)に掲載予定である。

"Development of high precision estimation method for carbon storage in soil in cold zone forest ecosystem" was carried out from October 12, 2003 to the end of March, 2004. The development of soil fertility is an important part of the method development of this study. Today, the development of convenient soil treatment facilities has been pointed out, the design of improved soil treatment facilities has been completed (October 2003-February 2004), and the field survey in the coming year has been carried out in Gifu University. A review of the "Specific Soil Layer Survey" was conducted in the Alpine Test Forest and a re-investigation of carbon storage in soil (November 2003).
