1.野外および室内調査:ネパールにおいては,マディ(Madi)川流域を対象地域として,これまでに蓄積してきた土地被覆変動・土地利用変動・地形変動に関するデータを解析し,GIS(地理的情報システム)を用いて図化を行った。また,日本においては,十勝平野の十勝川流域と石狩の定山渓の小流域において,野外調査ならびに空中写真判読・地形図解析を行った。その結果,これまでのところ,ネパールと日本とでは,急速な地形改変と土地被覆変動に特徴的な違いが認められた一方で,類似の変化も認められることが明らかになりつつある。2.これまでの成果の公表(口頭発表):マディ川流域における成果の一部は,Local adaptation strategies to climate change in the Madi Watershed, Nepal : issues and challengesと題して国際学会(カトマンズ)で口頭発表した。また,Landslide and debris flow in the Himalayas : A case study of the Madi Watershed in Nepalと題して国際会議(ニセコ)で口頭発表した。さらに,Water induced-disasters : Case studies from Nepal Himalayasと題して国際会議(ウィーン)で口頭発表した。3.これまでの成果の公表(印刷論文発表):成果の一部は,Local adaptation strategies to climate change in the Madi Watershed, Nepal : issues and challengesと題して,プロシーディングスに印刷中であり,もう一編はAbandonment of agricultural land and its consequences in Nepal Himalaya : A case study of Siklets areaと題して国際誌Mountain Research and Developmentに投稿中である。さらにもう一編の投稿準備が終わった状況にある。
