项目摘要

本年度も『今鏡』『古事談』を中心に研究を行った。『今鏡』について述べれば、『今鏡』は一般的に「面白くない」作品として認知されている現状があり、各研究はこれを打破すべく論を積み上げてきたが、近代以降の享受者が「つまらない」と感じる側面もまた『今鏡』の個性に他ならないため、研究論文の命題設定としては異端であると理解しつつも、その「つまらなさ」の要因を「歌徳説話」という視座を中心に考察、それが史実の忠実な継承を望み、想像による創造に消極的な作品の性格に起因することを明らかにし、そのような性格が仏教の妄語戒への意識に由来することを指摘した。「「打聞」論」の内容は昨年の報告書に言及したのでこれを省く。『古事談』研究では、武士説話を集成した「勇士」について一文をものした。「勇士」の説話採録を支える視点が「殺生」に存したことを確認、さらに『古事談』が成立した時期には鎌倉幕府の成立がほぼ重なるが、「勇士」の説話構成には鎌倉幕府の開祖・頼朝の世系を辿ることが軸に据えられたことから、結果として「勇士」は、鎌倉将軍家が血にまみれた「武士」の系譜で結ばれていることを明らかにし、公卿にまで至った頼朝、頼家もその死に際から見れば、先祖たちと何ら変わらないことを『古事談』が暗に示そうとしたとの見通しを述べた。また、「「臣節」巻末話考」は、発表論文の標題からは「臣節」の巻に限って考察を施したように見えるが、内容は作品全体の世界認識を問うものである。『古事談』各巻の巻末話全てを取り上げ、それらが共通して、大団円を迎える結末に水をさす、なにがしかの要素を持ち合わせていることを指摘、そのような説話が巻頭話と対になって巻の顔となる巻末話に据えられたのは、人の世の事象は一面的なものでは決してなく、正の面があれば必ず負の面をも伴うのだとする『古事談』の世界観に立脚することを論じた。
