1 ヴァラッロのサクロ・モンテ第二十七礼拝堂<ピラトの審問所>に関する研究を進めた結果、この礼拝堂の内部場面、とりわけ、内部に見られる遠近法の使用や画家の様式そのものが、当時のサクロ・モンテ再整備構想に基づく礼拝堂配置案ともっとも密接に関係していたことを解明した。2 十五世紀から十七世紀にかけてヴァラッロのサクロ・モンテについて書かれた案内書の記述を比較検討することで、度重なる再整備構想の中でサクロ・モンテの各礼拝堂の意味合いが受容者側にとってどのように変容していったのかを分析した。(「ヴァラッロのサクロ・モンテ-初期構想とその変遷」としてイタリア学会において口頭発表、現在、来年度発行の同学会誌への投稿を準備中)3 公会議資料、神学者による芸術論、司教教書といった同時代の文献資料を基に、対抗宗教改革時代における宗教芸術観ならびに巡礼地の役割(およびプロテスタント側からの宗教芸術ならびに巡礼地批判)を明らかにし、十六世紀末におけるヴァラッロのサクロ・モンテの再興の意味を分析した。また、十七世紀の祭壇構造に関する研究を進め、当時の建築論の精読と併せることで、サクロ・モンテの礼拝堂における障壁の役割を明らかにした。4 再整備構想の口火を切った第三十六礼拝堂<カルヴァリオへの道>礼拝堂の実現過程を辿り、内部場面の分析を当時の芸術論や公会議資料、宗教思想関係の文献における記述と照らし合わせて詳細に分析し、この礼拝堂の内部場面が再整備構想の中核をなす思想を表していることを解明した。5 先年度における研究調査で得た写真、フィルム、文献資料を礼拝堂ごとにデータ・ベースを作成した。
