先の研究において、父親の欠如や拒否的養育態度は、男子の自己統制能力を低くすること、母親の養育態度は、父親の影響を受けた自己統制能力を軌道修正する役割があることが指摘され、父親の存在の重要性が確認された。相手の視点に立って物事を考える(他者視点取得)ことができれば、周囲に百分がどのように見えているのかという気づきがうまれ、大局的な視点がもてるようになるため、自己統制能力は全体的に高くなると考えられる。そしてそのためには、両親、特に父親からの、他者の視点に立って物事を見るよううながすようなしつけや関わりが重要になるのではないだろうか。平成18年度は、低い自己統制能力が形成されていくプロセスをより具体的に検討するため、共感性との関連について、受刑者を対象として研究をおこなった。個別の面接調査も考慮に入れていたが、分析できるほどのデータが収集できず、今後の検討課題である。対象は男子受刑者100名である。共感性を測定する尺度として、Davis(1983)が作成し、桜井(1988)が邦訳した「多次元共感測定尺度」を使用し、自己統制能力の1側面である攻撃性との関連を検討した。攻撃性の有無は、本件もしくは過去において、直接的な対人攻撃をした経歴があるかどうかで判断した。その結果、直接的な対人攻撃歴のある受刑者は、ない受刑者と比較して、共感性の情緒的側面に差はないが、認知的側面が弱い傾向にあることが示された。この結果より、対人攻撃性のある者は、攻撃を受ける側の視点に立って、事件を振り返ったり、物事を考えたりすることができにくい傾向にあることが推測された。
