昨年度3月にアメリカ合衆国カリフォルニア大学サン・ディエゴ校にて開催されたユニタリティ三角形についてのワークショップにおいて、本研究課題の小林・益川行列要素Vubの測定についての現状での問題について、近年のコンピューターの性能向上の結果、理論計算の精度の著しい向上が報告された。本年度は、その結果を踏まえ、実験における測定精度をさらに向止させる手法を詳細に検討した。その結果、本研究課題のVubの測定精度を向上させるためには方針を転換し、小林・益川行列の別の行列要素であるVcbの精密測定を優先させた。これは、BファクトリーであるBelle実験では高エネルギー物理学の標準模型の内、弱い相互作用のクォーク混合の精密測定が実験目的の一つに掲げられているためにB中間子の多様な崩壊事象を網羅するよう設計されており、本研究のVubを測定に適した信号事象の測定に特化されていないため、背景事象にあたるVcbを測定に適した崩壊事象が大量に発生するためである。レプトン包含事象による解析では背景事象による影響が無くなるよう事象の選択を行うが、選択による信号事象の選択効率の計算に大きな不定性が残るためである。この選択効率の不定性の見積もりを行ったが、背景事象となるVcbを測定する崩壊事象はVubを測定する崩壊事象の100倍以上の割合で発生するうえ、Vubの測定のためには信号事象の約1割しか選択出来ない。このため、Vcbの精度および、Vcbによるレプトン包含事象の運動量分布の形の精度が求められる。Vcbの精度の影響は研究開始時には既知であったが、運動量分布の形が及ぼす影響の程度は小さいと考えられていた。その後の世界に於ける実験、理論計算の進展により、運動量分布の形の精度が求められるようになったため、Vcb、及び、運動量分布を高精度で求められる解析の準備を行った。
