平成18年度は前年度に引き続きB中間子のセミレプトニック崩壊を用いて小林・益川行列の要素であるVubを測定することを中心課題として研究を行った。この測定は、一般に模型依存性が避けられず、そのために系統誤差を小さくすることが困難であるが、標準理論を超えた物理法則の探索のためには基本的な物理量であるためにできるだけ精度よく測定することが強く望まれている。この測定はハドロン部分が特定できる場合(排他的セミレプトニック崩壊)および、ハドロンを特定しない場合(包含的セミレプトニック崩壊)の双方において可能であり、理論的不定性をできるだけ排除して測定を行うためには、両方の測定を同時に進めることが必要である。前者においては、終状態のハドロンとしてπ、ρ、ωなどの中間子を一個だけ含むような崩壊反応が測定可能であり、これらについての崩壊分岐比の測定データはこれまでに得られており、測定可能なレプトンのエネルギー領域が狭いために形状因子の理論的不定性がまだ十分小さいとは言えないが、Vubの測定精度は大きく改善された。この測定では、チャーム粒子からのバックグラウンドを正しく評価することによって、測定可能なレプトンのエネルギー範囲を広げることができた。また包含的セミレプトニック崩壊の測定では、この崩壊の終状態におけるレプトン系のQ^2分布、ハドロン系の質量Mxの分布を力学的に許されるすべての範囲で測定することが肝要であり、この点において従来の測定を改善することができた。
