「イスラム世界のアレゴリー」という新しく大きな問題設定の中で、過去2年間は、まずその輪郭を見出すべく研究を続けてきた。特にナラトロジー(物語論)的な方法は、本研究には有益であり、その構造主義的な方法論を、批判と限界を意識しつつ採用してきた。これによって、草稿的にではあるが、該当期間のアレゴリーの大体の像を得ることが出来たと考える。今年度は、特に「サラーマーンとアブサール物語」という、主に二つの系統をもつ物語の写本研究に焦点を当てた。この詳細研究を今年度と後2年、合わせて三年間で行う計画である。日本で閲覧可能な写本目録をくまなく参照し、アラビア語写本の残る国々に出張を重ね、多数の図書館を訪れ、該当写本の有無を確認してきた。全ての図書館を訪問するのは物理的に不可能であるが、重要なものは大体押さえたつもりである。この中で最大の発見は、イブン・シーナーの「サラーマーンとアブサール物語」の現存する唯一の写本であった。この作品は散逸したというのが通説であったため、本写本の資料価値は非常に高い。写本を発見したのがウズベキスタンであったため、これにはナスターリーク体の解読作業とウズベク語の学習を伴った。現在は、この写本のテキストを確立し、真正性を検討する作業をほぼ終えた状態であり、この成果を、2007年5月13日の中東学会で発表する予定である。これを前提とし、物語の詳細にわたる注釈をつける作業を今後続けて行う。さらに他方の系統に関しても、批判的テクストを確立すべく写本を収集した。こちらも前者と同様に、テキスト確立後詳細注釈をつける予定である。
