项目摘要

本研究では、インターネットのような巨大なデータベース上に散在する画像コンテンツを対象として、画像による画像検索を目指して、主としてその学習手法について研究した。本研究の方針として、人手によるタグ付けを排し、画像の色や形などの特徴量を用いた画像内容検索方式を用いる。この理由は、大量に散在する未整理の画像に対する検索では、検索対象の画像は自動処理でなければ現実的ではないためである。このような目的を達成するため、利用者の検索要求を適切な特徴量による記述へ変換するコアロジックに、データマイニング分野における新興理論であるラフ集合論を導入した。ラフ集合の導入にあたって、画像特徴量空間をラフ集合論で取り扱えるよう離散化し、画像の特徴を記述した。次に、検索目標となる画像の特徴量による記述を特定することが、ラフ集合による学習の目標であるため、その形式を決定した。このとき、ラフ集合論における縮約の概念が検索目標の集合を示すのに都合が良いことから、これを画像検索の特性を考慮して拡張した概念を案出した。導出すべき集合を検索アプリケーションとして現実的な時間内で計算するアルゴリズムを開発し、試作システムによって一定の有効性を確認した。その後、インタラクティブな適合性フィードバックを用いたインターフェースと相性の良いことがわかり、画像の部分的な特徴を用いたグループ分けによって、利用者の検索意図を汲み取る機構を開発し、これに適した新たな縮約の導出法を確立した。これらの方式を、2つめの試作システムとして実装し、簡単な操作、素早いレスポンスで、画像内容検索が行えることを確認した。
