○愛媛県大洲市立図書館矢野玄道文庫にて、『西行物語』(51-25)を調査後、影印入手、翻刻を行い、C類のロに分類。東京国立国会図書館にて、三種の『西行物語』を調査、影印入手。東京国立博物館の画像資料、国文学研究資料館のマイクロ資料から影印入手。○柳亭種彦著の版本『西行法師一代記』などを購入。○昨年度に引き続き、『西行物語』諸本のデータベースを作成。○これまでの研究成果を、博士論文「『西行物語』の展開の諸相」にまとめ、論文博士号を取得。本論文は、「論文編」と「資料編」の二分冊からなり、「論文編」には四部および附考、計十四章の論文、「資料編」には諸本の翻刻二十五編を収める。「論文編」の第一部「西行の和歌と旅」は、同じ西行を登場人物とする説話集『撰集抄』と比較し、また西行の詠じた和歌及び旅について考察して、『西行物語』の特質を明らかにしようとした四章からなる。第二部「『西行物語』の原型を探る」は『西行物語』の原型を考察した二章からなる。第二章「伝阿仏尼筆『西行物語』考」は、現存する『西行物語』中、最古のものと考えられてきた、静嘉堂文庫蔵伝阿仏尼筆『西行物語』(A二)に関して、国語学の面から検討した高橋宏幸氏の論文を、伝阿仏尼筆本『西行物語』が、より時代の下る本である可能性を示されたものと捉えて、他の伝本との仮名文字遣の比較を通して書写年代についての再検討を加えた。この章は、昨年度の科学研究費補助金による研究成果で、未発表論文である。第三部は『西行物語』の諸本研究に関する論考三章からなる。分類に際しては、西行の和歌が筋の骨格をなしていることを『西行物語』の特徴とする観点から、和歌の異同を基準とする。第四部は『西行物語』の展開の諸相を考察した三章からなる。附考は二章からなり、『西行物語』の享受の場についての考察の一端である。
