江戸時代前期に宮廷で制作されたと思われる「源氏物語図屏風」のうち、本年度は、霊元院が撰じた屏風についての絵画調査を主に行った。特に、「源氏十二月詞書」(または「源氏十二月絵詞」)と呼ばれている資料の調査を中心に行った。前年度までは、基本的に国文学研究資料館所蔵のマイクロフィルム化された資料を基に、原典にあたるという方法をとった。そのほとんどが「詞書」という文字資料であり、そこからは「源氏物語十二月図屏風」が『源氏物語』のどの場面を選択して制作されたものであるのか、また、複数に及ぶ「源氏十二月詞書」の存在により、本研究対象の屏風絵が、いかに成立後から広く知られていたかがなどが窺い知れたものの、絵画としての資料については、京都大学所蔵の1資料のみ存在を確認できたばかりであった。本年度は、絵画資料として新たに所在が明らかになった京都市立芸術大学所蔵の粉本の調査を行った。京都市立芸術大学は土佐派粉本を多く抱えているが、調査の結果、調査対象の絵画資料は土佐派によるものではないことが判明した。また、存在は明らかにされていたが、資料内容が明らかになっていなかった大阪青山短期大学所蔵の資料についても調査を行った。このことにより、現在、目録等で確認できる同名の資料についての原典調査はほとんど終了することができた。さらに、調査を進める上で、江戸時代の『源氏物語』絵画化を知る上での貴重な絵画粉本として、東京藝術大学所蔵の住吉家粉本の存在を見つけることができた。
