2005年8月29日から9月10日までの12泊13日で雲南省昆明において,観光関連諸機関に赴き,資料収集とともに聞き取り調査を行った。また,昆明郊外の少数民族地帯における農村観光および昆明市内の彷古型観光開発の実態についてもフィールドワークを行った。その結果,雲南省全体および主要な少数民族地区の最新の観光計画を入手するとともに,観光計画の策定を実際に担った雲南民族大学・雲南大学などに所属する研究者たちから,その策定に至るブロセスなどの知見も得た。雲貴高原の少数民族地帯では,「持続可能な観光開発」が大きな課題となるが,観光計画の担い手との意見交換のなかではその高い問題意識が伺えた。その一方で,05年度までのフィールドワークで得た実態調査との大きなギャップも確認でき,観光開発をめぐる多様なエイジェントの存在と,「上からの・下からの・外からの・内からの」観光開発という分析枠組みの有効性を再確認できた。昆明郊外の調査では,「農村風情」と「少数民族文化」を売り物にした民族観光村が形成され,都市住民や国内観光客が昆明市内から半日程度で手軽に訪れる観光地となりつつある実態が明らかになった。また,昆明市内では各所で彷古型観光開発が,老朽化したインナーシティの再開発と絡めて行われ,都市の歴史文化テーマパーク化が急速に進展しつつあることも観察された。彷古型観光開発は民間部門が商業ベースで実施することが多く,観光計画の担い手は批判的な立場であることも確認できた。総じて、雲貴高原辺境で民族観光開発が進むなか,その入り口となる都市内部およびその郊外の観光も相互補完的に成長しつつあると言える。なお,2006年2月13日から2月19日までの6泊7日で首都・北京において,国家旅游局・観光関係出版社・北京大学などを訪問し,資料収集と若干の聞き取り調査を補足的に行った。
