前年度は、悪性骨軟部肉腫患者への面接調査を行い、患者の情報や情緒的サポートに対するニーズの傾向を把握した。今年度は、インターネットによる悪性骨軟部肉腫患者へのサポートシステムを構築するための基礎資料として、がん体験者の情報や情緒的サポートに対するニーズを文献から明らかにし、そのニーズに応じた情報や情緒的サポートを、インターネット上で実際にどの程度入手することが可能なのか、国内における現状を調査した。文献検索の結果から、がん体験者が求める情報の内容は、1)がんの病態、2)がんの診断、3)がんの治療、4)がんに伴う身体面への対処方法、5)がんに伴う心理面への対処方法、6)がんに伴う社会経済的側面への対処方法、7)終末期ケア、8)家族ケアに分類された。また、がん体験者が求める情緒的サポートとして、1)同病者との交流、2)継続的カウンセリング、3)専門職者の個別相談、4)教育プログラム、5)家族からのサポート、6)医療者の配慮が挙げられた。次に、日米のがんに関連した機関等のWebサイトを検索した結果、米国では、がん体験者が求める情報や情緒的サポートがすべての項目において満たされているのに対し、日本では、病態や診断、治療に関する情報は、がん専門病院を中心に提供されているものの、がんに伴って生じた身体的、精神的、社会経済的問題への具体的な対処方法に関する情報は非常に少なかった。なお、悪性骨軟部肉腫に関しては個人サイトが数件あるのみで、系統的に情報や情緒的サポートを行っているサイトは見られなかった。この結果は、2005年2月4〜6日に開催された日本がん看護学会学術集会において、口述発表を行った。今後は、これらの結果に基づいて、情報や情緒的サポートを得にくい悪性骨軟部肉腫患者を含む若年性がん体験者を対象とした、インターネットによるサポートシステムを構築する予定である。
