今年度は、公立保育所に所属する看護職が、看護職としての専門機能を発揮したと考えている活動内容の性質を明らかにし、保育所における看護職の機能・役割を検討することを目的とした調査を行った。公立保育所に勤務する看護職および市町村で保育行政を担当する部課に所属する看護職6名に対する半構成面接を行い、保育所において看護職としての機能が発揮されていると考える看護職自身の実践活動および保育所における看護職の活動に対する考え・意識・姿勢を調査した。その結果、看護職の機能・役割が発揮された活動内容の種類は、1)ケガや感染症の防止と対応、2)健康観察・体調把握とその対応、3)健診・検査の実施と事後対応、をはじめとする9項目に整理された。また、保育所における看護職の活動全般に共通する内容として語られた思い・考え・姿勢については、A.保育と保健の融合をはかる、B.予防により質の高い保育を保障する、C.看護職固有の機能・役割を発揮する、をはじめとする6項目に整理された。そして、看護職の機能・役割が発揮された活動内容および保育所における看護職の活動全般に共通する内容として語られた思い・考え・姿勢の項目を照らし合わせ、保育所看護職の活動内容の性質として、1)質の高い保育の保障のために保育と保健の融合を図る、2)保健データや保健情報により保育所の活動に科学的根拠を与える、3)予防・危機管理の視点を保育活動に適合させる、4)職員・関係者・保護者の共通理解のもとに保育所保健活動を展開する、5)空間・時間・対象の範囲についてミクロ-マクロの視点を自在に切り替え、計画的・系統的・発展的に直接および間接支援活動を展開する、6)園児と保護者の立場を考え、信頼関係を構築し、保護者が安心して保育所を利用できることを目指しながら、同時に保護者の主体性と育児対応能力及び園児のセルフケアの向上をはかる、の6点を導き出した。
