本年度は、昨年度に引き続き、兵庫県飾磨郡家島町に属する人口増加を続けてきた坊勢島に着目し研究を行ってきた。本年度は、人口維持と居住継続につながるものとして、坊勢島に居住する女性達の社会的ネットワークに着目して研究をおこなった。「男漁女耕」の慣習が色濃くのこる坊勢島では、昼間、漁にでかけた男性にかわり、女性達が地域社会を守っている。親族に限らず、友人や知人を含めた個人の社会的ネットワークが育児期や高齢期といった支援を必要とする時期の直接的支援を可能としているだけでなく、その他のライフステージにおいても社会的ネットワークを形成され、潜在的な支えとなっているのではないかと考えた。坊勢島に居住する女性の居住実態を捉えるために、一日の生活行動や居住意識を把握するとともに、女性の交流ネットワークの実態を把握し、ライフステージごとのその変容を把握した。世帯形成後は親世帯に依存した交流を持っているが、子どもの誕生をきっかけに、親戚や祖父母といった親族のと交流が増え、支援を受けるようになる。その後、子どもの成長にともない地縁がひろがり、支援を受けている側から支援をする側へと移行し、兄弟・姉妹との対等な協力関係を形成しんがら、再び支援を受けるようになる。このように坊勢島に居住する女性たちは、ライフステージごとの異なる生活要求に対して、日常生活の中での人々の交流の役割を変化させていることが明らかになった。こうしたライフステージに応じて交流を変容させる社会的ネットワークが、坊勢島の人口維持と地域への居住継続を支えているものと考えられる。
