本年度は、農家への聞き取り調査を中心に、当該地域の自治体、ツーリズムオフィス、郡役所の農業会議所、森林官、観光業者、製材企業、薪・ペレットストーブ業者への聞き取りを行った。具体的には、Karnten州のM村を対象地域として選定し、同村において有機農業認定を受けている農家に滞在しながら、農林業、農家民宿業、その他生活全般についての聞き取りを行い、村役場および同村のツーリズムオフィス、S郡の農業会議所、Karnten州の同郡管轄の森林官、同村でBio Hotel(有機ホテル)を経営している観光業者、同州の製材企業、同郡を中心に営業を行っている薪・ペレットストーブ業者への聞き取りを行った。有機農業を実践している農家に滞在し、聞き取りを行うことにより、有機農業の実態のみならず、農場全体の利用方法、所有林の森林経営や木材利用、農家民宿業の実態を通して、環境保全型で循環型の農家経営の全体像を把握することが出来た。有機農業については認証団体より認証を受けているが、有機農業を行う最大の理由はマーケティングではなく、健康や環境に良い農業であるという哲学であることがうかがえた。しかし、有機農家であることは農産物販売や農家民宿経営にとってプラスの要素となっている。農家が所有林から自家労働により伐出した木材は、製材企業に販売されるか、自家用の薪として使われ、余すところ無く利用される。農家の熱源はこのバイオマスエネルギーやソーラーなどの自然エネルギーによって賄われていることから、所有林が循環型の農家経営に大きく貢献している。近年、木材需要が増加しているため、林業は農林家にとって重要性を増している。また、小規模な有機農家においては、農作業、有機農産物の加工、所有林からの木材伐出等は、自家労働を集約的に投入する必要があるため、家族協働による手作業の労働が不可欠であるが、必要な設備投資は行っており、両者により環境保全型農林業経営が可能となっていることが明らかになった。
