インファントマッサージの効果は、児への効果とあわせ母親の安心やリラックスをもたらすとの先行研究があり、母子愛着形成を促進する働きがある。本研究は産褥早期におけるインファントマッサージが、母親の持つ不安へどのように影響をもたらすのかを明らかにする目的で実施した。測定用具は、心理尺度としてState-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI)Form-Y(高橋ら)を用いインファントマッサージ実施前後の比較を行った。また生理学的指標として母親の心電図R-R間隔を測定し心電図R-R間隔変動係数(CV_<R-R>)を求め、インファントマッサージ実施前の安静時とマッサージ実施中との変化を検討した。また、インファントマッサージ実施後の母親の感想をインタビューした。調査は初産婦を対象に、産後2日目より連続4日間インファントマッサージを実施し、実施1日目ならびに4日目に測定を行った。結果は、STAIの変化ではState、Traitともインファントマッサージ後に低下する傾向を示した。心拍変動は、安静時よりインファントマッサージ実施中の方がR-R間隔が短く、CV_<R-R>が高い傾向を示した。インファントマッサージ実施後の母親の感想はマッサージを行うことへの緊張感を示すものは少なく、マッサージを通して子どもの様子や変化を感じているものが多くみられた。これらの結果から、産褥早期のインファントマッサージ実施は心理的指標においては母親の不安が低下する傾向を認めた。CV_<R-R>はインファントマッサージ中の方が高い傾向を示し、副交感神経機能優位な状態反応を示さない可能性が示唆された。
