研究第2年度にあたる17年度においては、まず前年度中に調査収集・データベース入力済みの西魏・北周・隋代の石刻史料、千数百点余りについて、綿密なデータ修正作業を実施した。そのうち、西魏代の石刻史料114点については、「西魏石刻関係文献目録」と題して雑誌論文として発表した。当該時代の研究に従事している諸氏からは、本成果に対する意見を得ると同時に、著者未見の史料に関する補遺情報を寄せていただいた。これらの貴重な情報を盛り込んだ改訂版・補遺編の執筆、データベースの追加・修正作業を継続中であり、北周代以降のものと併せて、順次公表する準備を進めている。こうした石刻史料の収集・整理作業を進めてきた結果、当該時代の兵制を解明するうえで極めて有用と考えられる史料を見いだすことができた。一例をあげれば、西魏時代には、多くの地方豪族たちが、東魏との接壌地帯にあたる河東などで活発な軍事活動を繰り広げていたが、そのなかでも後代の編纂史料にも登場する代表的な人物の名がはっきりと記された石刻史料が2点見つかった。そこには、この人物とつながる在地有力者層とおぼしき多数の人名と、彼らの活動の様子が記されている。この史料に詳細な訳注を施し、その内容を検討することによって、正史からはうかがい知ることのできない兵制の具体像と、それが当時の社会に与えた影響などを、ミクロな視点から解明することができるはずである。現在執筆中の当論文は、18年度中に出版予定の論集論文として投稿準備中である。
