第四紀氷床変動がコア・マントル結合を通して気候変動やダイナモ作用に影響を与えること, 大陸移動やマントル対流が過去数億年のスケールで有為な極移動を引き起こすこと, 第四紀の極移動を正確に評価するにはマントル対流の効果を考慮する必要があること, 最近の地球回転変動に電磁的カップリングが効果的であることを数値的に確かめ, かつ, 秋吉石灰岩層群とジェスモンド石灰岩から推定される堆積作用・海水準変動に関する研究を遂行した。
