ここ数年観光関連の学科を新設する大学も増え、比較的新しい学問である観光学を大学レベルで学ぶことが徐々に定着しつつある。しかし、まだ大学においてどのような内容を観光学の科目として教授するのが望ましいかということが具体的に確立しているとは言えないというのが現状である。本研究では昨年度に引き続き効率的かつ効果的な大学における観光学専門課程のあり方について探求することを目的とした。本年度は昨年度収集したデータや資料に加え、観光関連の学科を持つ大学から提供してもらったカリキュラム等の資料をもとに比較分析と傾向の把握に努めた。現在分析途中で具体的な研究結果を示すことは難しいが、それぞれの大学が国内外の他大学のカリキュラムも参考に独自の履修科目を提供することで差別化を図ろうとしている傾向にあるのが明らかになってきた。歴史の古い文学や心理学と違いカリキュラム体系が大学によって違い、共通認識に乏しいことは問題であるが、それぞれの大学がその地域に適した科目を提供することは好ましいことと言えよう。このようなことを含め、全体の分析が完了次第報告書にまとめたい。諸事情により18年度半ばで研究を一次中断することになったが、19年度に研究再開後は、関連文献のレビューや国内外の観光関連学科を提供する主要大学関係者へのインタビューをもとに観光学教育の具体的な教授法に関する研究を進める予定である。現在一般的に行われている観光専門科目の教授法や、他専門科目の教授法の応用、あるいはインターネット等を活用した授業の可能性などについても考察していきたい。
