In order to prevent reduction of the windbreak of a TOKACHI district, it is required to prove the multiple functions of a windbreak scientifically. therefore, the thing for which the meaning as a place of residence of not only the validity as a farmland preservation institution of a windbreak that stands beside the field which is especially personal property management but scene preservation and small animals is studied - moreover, this research was collectively done for the purpose of windbreak continuation. In order to attain this purpose, investigation about use of the windbreak of small animals was conducted. Moreover, for renewal of windbreak proper, the age of a tree was guessed from tree height, and the renewal arrangement plan of windbreak proper was created.As a result, the following knowledge was acquired.Although flying squirrel inhabited the divided forest, by carrying out glide movement, the windbreak was used as a corridor and it became clear that moving to some of other forests is possible. Moreover, action investigation to small animals, such as a squirrel and a bat, was also conducted.Investigation of the tree height of a windbreak and the relation of the tree age carried out for Memuro. Based on these data, we created the topical map of tree-type, tree-age, the protection-against-wind domain, and proper arrangement of a windbreak of the TOKACHI district.
