项目摘要

今年度は、2006年5月11日から8月14日まで、パリの国立ジョルジュ・ポンピドゥー・センターにて、ジャン=リュック・ゴダールが構想した展覧会《ユートピアへの旅》Voyage(s) en utopieが開催され、同時に関連作品を含む包括的なレトロスペクティヴが行われたため、当初の予定通り、夏に一ヶ月程度の出張を行い、日本では入手しがたい作品の閲覧と資料の収集に努めることを研究の主眼とした。出張中には、滅多に上映されない多数の関連作品のほか、特に著作権の観点から一般公開の望めないゴダールの最新作『真の偽造パスポート』Vrai faux passeportを展覧会場内で詳細に閲覧することができた。また、展覧会そのものは、ゴダールが映像作品ではなく、初めて美術館という空間内で仕事をしたという点で重要であり、ソフト化などによって再現性が得られることも考えにくいため、詳細に観察し、本展覧会の内容と意義を論文「ポンピドゥー・センターのゴダール-《ユートピアへの旅》をめぐる覚書」にまとめた。より具体的には、3つの部屋から成る本展覧会には、『映画史』で試みられたモンタージュの手法を、今日の家庭的空間における映像の地位の考察や、20世紀の映像体験の理念型としての映画芸術の再考といったテーマに応用した部屋に加えて、最終的には挫折した当初の企画《コラージュ・ド・フランス》Collage(s) de Franceのマケット群を展示した部屋があり、とりわけその部屋がどのように90年代以降の映像作品でゴダールが追究してきた諸テーマを別のかたちで探究しているのかを検討した。さらに、それと並行して、研究内容との関連性が深いコリン・マッケイブ著『Godard:A Portrait of the Artist at 70』の翻訳を完成させた(『ゴダール伝』としてみすず書房より近刊)。
