本研究の目的は、ヨーロッパにおける韓国と日本企業の企業内ネットワークからみたヨーロッパの国際的都市システムを明らかにすることである。そこで、平成19年度の研究では、既存資料や聞き取り調査を行い、韓国企業のヨーロッパ子会社・事業所の立地パターンと産業構造について分析した。その結果、次の点が読み取れた。1.都市間結合と時期属性との関連性を分析した結果、韓中間の国際的都市システムを構成する中核都市結合と地方都市結合との質的違いは、親会社の設立年度、そして子会社の進出年度と深く関連性を持つことが明らかになった。韓国で早い段階に設立され、企業活動を展開されてきた企業、そして早い時期から積極的に子会社進出している企業は、中核都市結合として現れている。2.子会社の配置からみた都市間結合と産業属性との関連性を分析した結果、中核都市結合では、プロデューサー・サービス業を中心とする非製造業部門に特化していることに対して、地方都市結合では、製造業部門が主要な構成要素となっている。プロデューサー・サービス業は、雇用の創出、産出におけるシェアの拡大、地域の移出母体・国際的取引としての重要性などが指摘され、他の産業部門の生産活動に与える影響が大きい業種であるといえる。この視点から、プロデューサー・サービス業は、少なくとも韓国・ヨーロッパ間の国際的都市システムの中核都市間結合を強め、地方都市結合との格差を作り出す重要な要素ともなっているといえる。3.本研究の分析結果を、筆者の一連の研究と比較すると、(1)高次階層を構成する都市間結合の多様性が確認されたこと、(2)二重構造をなす都市間結合の集中度が異なること、(3)子会社・事業所配置といった進出形態別の首位都市間結合が異なること、そして(4)都市間結合と産業部門との交互作用の違いが確認されたこと、が明らかになった。
