本年度の研究目的である、昨年度までに収集した資料の読解を進め、かつ収集した調査記録の内容を確認するため、調査対象社寺の現地調査を実施した。4月から7月にかけては、「千年以上社寺建物一覧表」「千年前社寺建物表」を中心に文書の読解を進め、資料の概要を記録した。7月以降は、資料に記された建物と現存する建物の対応関係を、文献調査と現地調査により明らかにした。一方、資料の捜索を引き続き行った結果、これまで行方不明であった京都府で作成された調書の簿冊「四百年前社寺建物取調書」の所在が判明した。平成20年初頭に、京都市内の個人から京都府立総合資料館に預けられ、同館により京都府行政文書であることが確認された。これまで、その写本が東京都立中央図書館木子文庫にあることは確認していたが、日付や図面がないなど、分析をする上でやや問題がある資料であった。この京都府「四百年前社寺建物取調書」の解読と内容分析を行い、現在の社寺との対応関係を明らかにした。これらについては、2008年度日本建築学会大会において発表を行う予定(投稿中)である。また、同資料は京都府立総合資料館において、現在公開のための準備が進められている。これにより、明治期の調査において最も重要であった奈良と京都の調書の原本が揃い、かつ「千年以上社寺建物一覧表」により全国の状況が明らかになったことで、「400年前社寺建造物調査」の全体像を明らかにすることができた。
