重要文化財美術工芸品の空間情報データベースを構築し、これまでのデータとあわせて現時点での国指定文化財に関する一連の空間情報データベースの構築が完了した。同時に、データベースの構築や国内での聞き取り調査から、データベース構築の際の問題点を明らかにした。また、イタリアでの空間情報データベースを利用した文化財防災の事例と、アメリカでの文化財の地震対策に関する調査を行い、日本の事例との比較および日本への適用の可能性について検討した。さらに、これまでに構築したデータベースと発生した地震のデータとを連携することにより被害予測を行ったところ、実際の被害状況とよく一致したことから、災害発生時のレスキュー活動への活用の可能性を示した。
