偏微分方程式に対する境界値逆問題あるいは逆散乱問題として定式化される、媒質中の不連続性についての情報を、さまざまな物理量からなる観測データから抽出する問題について、研究代表者が過去に発見した二つの基本的方法である探針法と囲い込み法のさらなる展開を目指して研究した。その結果弾性体の方程式、熱方程式、Laplace方程式, Helmholtz方程式等で記述される境界値逆問題において、長い間懸案となっていた問題についての解決を得た。

偏微分方程式に対する境界値逆問題あるいは逆散乱問題として定式化される、媒質中の不連続性についての情報を、さまざまな物理量からなる観測データから抽出する問題について、研究代表者が過去に発見した二つの基本的方法である探針法と囲い込み法のさらなる展開を目指して研究した。その結果弾性体の方程式、熱方程式、Laplace方程式, Helmholtz方程式等で記述される境界値逆問題において、長い間懸案となっていた問題についての解決を得た。
