平成20年度の研究では、平成18-20年度の継続研究として、製品アーキテクチャ・コア・コンピタンス(組織能力)・情報技術の利用という3者間の関係を分析し、そこから各産業・各企業における効率的なIT利用を調べることを目的にして、日韓企業を対象にインタビューとアンケート調査を行なってきた成果のまとめである。具体的に、平成20年度には、平成18年度から平成19年度まで実施した、「日本と韓国の製造業におけるITシステムと組織能力(コア・コンピタンス)、そして製品アーキテクチャとの関係」を分析する研究をまとめて、研究成果を発信することに力を入れた。まず、第一に平成19年まで行なった「エレクトロニクス産業における製品アーキテクチャ、製品開発プロセス、ITシステム(CAD)、組織能力」に関するアンケート調査をまとめて、エレクトロニクス産業の製品開発とITシステムとの適合性とともに、日本企業の製品開発の改善要素などを提言する中間報告書を東京大学ディスカッションペーパーとしてまとめた。第二に、これまでの研究成果をまとめて、国際カンファレンス(2008年5月のGlobal SCM国際カンファレンス、2008年8月のPOM国際カンファレンスなど)の論文として出版し、その成果を世界的に広めることに力を入れた。第三に、これまでの研究成果を活かして、日米韓の研究者と研究ネットワークを形成し、国際シンポジウムの共同研究成果を東京大学ディスカッションペーパーとしてまとめた。
