昨年度、修士論文"The Effects of Educational Tracking on Income Distribution"を京都大学大学院経済学研究科に提出した。これは子どもが受ける学校教育を親の所得と自らの能力に従って区分することが、その後の所得分配にどのような影響を及ぼすのかについて、数値計算の手法を用いて分析したものである。本年度はこの論文を英文学術誌に投稿するための改訂作業を進めてきた。具体的には、学力別クラス編成をどのようにモデル化するのか、公的教育と私的教育の選択をどのようにより現実に即した形でモデル化するのかについて研究を進めてきた。また同時に、より精緻な数値計算を行うためのプログラムの改良、英語の表現面での改善も行った。次に、1年目の研究課題である先進国、発展途上国での所得分配の現状とその現状を生み出す要因、2年目の研究課題である所得分配と経済成長との相互関係、3年目の研究課題である再分配政策の定量的分析のそれぞれについて、先行研究をサーベイした。この分野は多くの先行研究が存在するため、特に学校教育が所得分配、経済成長に与える影響に注目して先行論文、著書の研究を行った。また学校教育は所得、階層について平等化を促進する側面と不平等化を促進する側面との両面を持ち合わせており、再分配政策の手段としても学校教育の役割について研究を行った。
