1.研究内容:昨年度に引き続き、日本に定住する外国人の越境・戦争の記憶を検討するために、日本とベトナムにおいて現地調査を行った。具体的には、兵庫県神戸市長田区を起点として、まず(1)在日ベトナム人1世の越境体験と個人史の聞き取りを実施した。調査を通して、彼/彼女たちが職場などの生活領域において奄美出身者や在日コリアンなど他の都市マイノリティたちと緩やかな結びつきを形成していることが明らかになったため、つぎに(2)在日ベトナム人の就業実態を調査すると同時に、雇用者や同僚の個人史の聞き取りを行った。さらに、(3)ベトナムでは在日ベトナム人の親族を訪ねて、国境を越える生活世界を捉えながら、個々人の戦争や植民地体験の聞き取りを行った。2.得られた知見:これらの調査研究により、以下の知見が得られた(成果の一部は学会や関連する研究会にて発表した)。(1)個人史の聞き取りにより、戦争や植民地体験などの歴史的事象を個人の語りや認識から再検討することが可能になった。同時に、「定住外国人」という従来の分析枠組みの限界が明らかになり、国家や国史の狭間にいるインフォーマントたちを「越境者」と捉えて、「越境者」の位置や経験こそが国民国家や一国史を逆照射し、歴史を再記述する新たな起点となることを示した。(2)また、「越境者」という視座により、他のマイノリティ集団との結びつきを越境経験の「共振」と捉えうることを指摘し、さらに、この「共振」が、新境地での生活再建や家族の離散といった、越境に伴う個人の経験や記憶の想起を促していることを明らかにした。(3)越境の背景にある戦争や植民地主義の諸相、そして、低廉な労働力として越境者を集約して発展を遂げた近代都市神戸の特質を明らかにしたことは、現在も継続している近代を地域現場に見出したという意味でも重要な成果であったと考えている。
