项目摘要

「秦漢時代における書体の諸相」の一環として、文字を学ぶべき識字書の格を明らかにする。なぜなら、当時の識字書は、文字を修得するのみならず、書体の修得をも意識されていたと思われるからである。識字書の中でも『急就篇』は、唯一完全な形で現存する漢代の小学書である。識字という点から、学童の為の識字書であると考えられることが多いが、『急就篇』の取り上げている語句の内容をみれば、かなり専門的な語句が列挙される。たとえば、「鬼薪白粲鉗??」という語句がある。これらは、鬼薪・白粲・?鉗・?趾という漢代の労役名である。そのため『急就篇』は、一般的な学童の識字書とは考えられない。そこで『急就篇』の性格についで当時の官吏任用と小学書との関係を踏まえて、『急就篇』の内容を検討することで、『急就篇』の文献的性格を明らかにすることを試みた。作業を通じて、『急就篇』は、主として学童のための識字書の一種であったが、行政・司法文書を書かねばならない立場、つまり下級官吏のなかでも現地で採用される令史のような書記官が即戦力として働くための必要な内容を備えた識字書であったことを立証する。さらに、『急就篇』が後に識字課本としての用を離れ、隷書の早書き体から発展したと思われる「章草体」の手本として用いられるようになることから、『急就篇』と章草との関係を明らかにして、章草の名義に一石を投ずる。
