船舶及び人命を守るための海難防止を目指した、海のITSに関し、(1) 船舶搭載航海計器からの動的航海情報データの収集システム、(2) 気象・海象において航海中の流れおよび海上風の数値シミュレーションを行うシステム、(3) 気象・海象下の船舶の挙動を船舶操縦性能理論を用いて推定するシステム、(4) 波浪予報の基礎システムが完成した。以上から、海難防止のための数値ナビゲーションシステムの構築ができた。
