オホーツク海高気圧とそれに伴う下層雲の変動を理解するために、ロシア船と日本船の二艘の観測船にてロシアが領有権を主張しているオホーツク海の内部に入り、そこでラジオゾンデ観測を行った。また、観測データの解析と、既存の客観解析データを解析してオホーツク海高気圧の力学、熱力学、大気海洋双方向作用の研究を行った。
