ヒマラヤ山脈上昇史の鍵を握る変成岩ナップは, 約1440万年前に地表に露出・急冷し, 年間3-4cm の速度で南南西に前進し, 約1100 万年前に運動を停止した.冷却は先端から北方へ向け年間約1-1.5cm の速度で進行した.古カトマンズ湖の泥質湖成堆積物の堆積開始は約100 万年前まで遡り, 寒冷期には化学的風化が進まず, 堆積速度が遅く, 温暖期には化学的風化が促進され, 堆積速度が速かったことが判明した.

The key to the history of the rise of the mountain range is the diagenesis. About 14.4 million years ago, the surface of the earth was exposed and cooled rapidly. During the year, the speed of 3- 4 cm moved south-west. About 11 million years ago, the movement stopped. Cooling proceeds at a rate of about 1- 1.5 cm per year from the tip to the north. The accumulation of mud lake deposits in the ancient lake began about 1 million years ago. During the cold period, chemical weathering was promoted and the accumulation rate was slow. During the warm period, chemical weathering was promoted and the accumulation rate was slow.
