近年、東アフリカを中心に環境保全型害虫管理技法として急速に普及しつつある「プッシュ・プル法」について、本手法における作物・害虫・天敵およびそのほかの圃場生物間における各種の相互作用を圃場試験によって解明するとともに、本手法のさらなる普及にむけて改良をこころみた。また、本法に対する農民の認識を調査することにより、本手法の普及要因を明らかにし、他地域や他作物への本手法適用の可能性について検討した。
