项目摘要

前年度に引き続き、エジプト・アラブ共和国カイロ市にて調査を行った。前年度行ったコプトの人権団体に関する調査結果を踏まえて、今年度はコプトの権利を主張する拠り所となるエジプト・ナショナリズムに焦点を当てた。具体的には、20世紀初頭のナショナリズム運動とコプト・キリスト教徒の名望家の関係について、そしてエジプト・ナショナリズムとコプト社会内部での宗教・文化復興運動の関係について文献調査を進めた。さらにエジプトにおけるアラブ・ナショナリズムの受容についての調査に着手した。また、前年度に続いてカイロの書店や図書館に頻繁に足を運び、更にコプト関連の記事が多く掲載される独立系新聞社のアーカイブスにも通うなど、資料の収集を進めた。加えて、それらの資料の精読を進め、そこから得られたデータをまとめた。また、前年度に続いてコプト正教会の政治的役割の調査を継続し、コプト正教会総主教シェヌーダ3世と対立した際のサーダート大統領の演説を精読し、日本語に翻訳した。これは、上智大学アジア文化研究所イスラーム地域研究拠点が発行する"SIAS working paper series"のNo.6として出版される予定である。加えて、シェヌーダ3世の演説やコプト正教会が発行する週刊紙「アル=キラーザ」、コプトが社主となっている週刊紙「ワタニー」の精読を進め、これらのコプト系メディアがサーダート大統領との対立発生時にどのような反応をしたのか調査をすすめ、内容をまとめた。これにより、サーダートが大統領を務めた1970年代のエジプトにおける政教関係の一端を明らかにすることができると考えられる。
