本年度は、これまで取り組んできた日本語音象徴語(擬音・擬態語)の形式と意味からの実験的定義を再検証した上で、当該語彙の意味論的考察を本格化させた。とりわけ、構文文法と機能主義的統語モデルという理論的枠組の導入により、一般言語学における本研究の位置付けを明確に打ち出すことができた。1.まず、音象徴語の音韻形態とアスペクト特性の対応関係(例:「てくてく」等の重複形の持つ継統的意味)を体系的に分析した。こうした対応関係は、形式と意味の対を分析単位とする構文文法の考え方を本研究に効果的に取り入れることを可能にした。2.音象徴語の統語的実現に関する通言語的一般化(どんな意味の音象徴語が主動詞として機能しえ、どんな意味の音象徴語が付加詞として機能するのか)に理論的視点を加えた。即ち、意味と統語の間に有縁的・類像的な関係を想定する機能主義的統語観より、「一般語彙から意味的に逸脱しているほど、統語的にも隔てられる」という意味・統語写像モデルを構築し、音象徴語の通言語的統語論に重大な進展を齎すことができた。また、本モデルは子どもの言語習得データの分析により更なるサポートを得た。3.修士論文以降のテーマのである「感情を表す音象徴語(例:わくわく)の身体基盤性」を発展させ、国際誌に掲載が決定した。加えて、本年度は音韻論者および言語類型論者との共同研究を行った。以上の成果は、主に論文として発表した。何れも、先行研究において隔離されできた音象徴語研究に一般言語学的視点を持ち込んだ点で、音象徴語研究にとっても一般言語学においても重要な貢献と言える。

This year, the definition of the form and meaning of Japanese phonetic feature words (onomatopoeic words) was re-examined and the meaning of the words was examined.
