Ce_4Ni_3Pb_4は重い電子状態と弱い強磁性(0.002μ_B/Ce)の共存する希な系であることを先に報告した。その結晶構造は三方晶で空間反転対称性が欠如し,Ceが結晶学的に異なる2つのサイトを占める。今回単結晶化に初めて成功し,異方性やCeの2サイト効果を期待し低温物性を測定した。磁場をc面内に印加した場合のみ磁気転移温度(T_N=3K)以下で弱い強磁性成分が現れ左。中性子回折実験によって,T_N以下で反強磁性秩序による磁気反射を観測した。また英国の研究者との非弾性中性子散乱実験では5.2と24meV,19と40meVで4本の結晶場ピークを観測した。後者2本のピーク幅が前者の3倍であることから2サイトあるCeの近藤温度がサイトによって異なることを見出した。これは2サイトあるCeのうち一方のCeが比較的良く局在した磁気モーメントをもっており,他方サイトのCeは重い電子状態にあることを示唆する。この伝導電子と4f電子状態との混成強度の違う2サイトの存在によって,2.5Tという比較的小さな磁場で磁気転移が消失する局在系の振る舞いと,近藤効果が強いサイトでの重い電子状態とが共存していると考えられる。これらの結果をまとめて投稿した論文では,Ce_4Ni_3Pb_4が示す異方的な弱い強磁性の発現は,スピン軌道結合の強い4f電子系におけるジャロシンスキー型反対称交換相互作用の有無を初めて問題提起し,弱い強磁性の起源として2サイトの副格子間での磁気異方性の競合を提案した。

Ce_4Ni_3Pb_4 heavy electronic state weak strong magnetism (0.002 μ _ B/Ce) coexist in order to improve the quality of pre-reporting. The results show that the space asymmetry of the trigonal crystal is not good, and the temperature of the Ce crystal occupies an important position.
