项目摘要

本研究は、戦後教育言説を包括的に検討することを通じて、戦後日本における教育構想の諸相を分析的に把握することを目指すものである。この目的にしたがって、本年度は、昨年度実施した理論的研究、インタビュー調査、資料読解を深化させるかたちで、とくにオールド・リベラリスト世代の教育構想の分析を行った。戦後教育改革には、意欲に燃えたオールド・リベラリスト世代の知識人が実質的に関わっており、彼らの教育理念は、戦後教育の制度理念のなかに無視し得ないかたちで反映されている。その意味で、その教育構想を把握することは、戦後教育の内実をとらえ直す際の必須の作業といえる。しかし「逆コース」以降の政治情勢のなかで、彼らの思想内容は革新勢力からしばしば批判を浴び、その内実は「保守勢力vs革新勢力」の図式の内部に位置づけられてきた。本研究では、田中耕太郎、天野貞佑を中心に、前田多門、安部能成、森戸辰男らの言説を検討することで、彼らの思想の守旧性にいったん留保を付しつつ、オールド・リベラリスト世代の論者における「個人と社会秩序の関係性認識」という論点を掘り下げて検討した。彼らの教育構想には、現今の社会秩序の価値を重んじた上で、それとの関係性において個人主義を貫徹させるという志向性が見てとれる。この観点は、近代教育の歴史的根拠ともかかわる根本的な重要性をもっており、本研究では、各論者の思想的特質に応じた偏差にも注目しながら、それを革新勢力の教育構想と比較対照していくことで開かれうる歴史記述の可能性について知見を得た。なおその際、憲法学・思想史を中心とする隣接学問分野の知見を参照し、理論的側面からの考察を深めた。これらの成果の一部については、第60回日本教育社会学会(上越教育大学)にて「オールド・リベラリスト世代の戦後教育構想」として発表した。
