项目摘要
米国シカゴ郊外フェルミ研究所内で行われている陽子反陽子衝突型実験であるCDF実験に参加し、トップクォーク質量の精密測定を行った。トップクォークの質量を精度良く測定することで、間接的に未発見の標準ビッグス粒子の質量を予言できるため、非常に意義がある測定である。特に、本研究の2年間で、テバトロンを使った実験の平均として、1995年までのデータを使用した結果(2004年まで正式な最良値)を約3分の1に減らすことに成功し、驚異的な成功を収めた。(CDF実験はこの平均値に半分以上の寄与をしており、決定的な仕事をしている)また、この結果を用いることで、標準模型のヒッグス粒子が存在する場合、約160GeVよりも小さいという予言を95%の信頼度ですることができる。言うまでもなく、これからの測定、実験に深刻なインパクトを与える結果である。また、本研究では、Zボソンがボトムクォーク対に崩壊するような事象を用いて、ボトムクォークのエネルギー較正を行うことにも成功した。トップクォークは標準模型内ではほぼ100%ボトムクォークとWボソンに崩壊するので、このエネルギー較正は質量測定には非常に重要である。シミュレーションのみで確認されていたこのエネルギー較正についてデータを用いて、シミュレーションとの一致性を確認できたことはCDF実験自身の信頼度を上げることにもなった。トップクォークの質量を測定する際には、対生成された全ての運動学を全て再構成する必要があるので、対生成において共鳴状態にあったかどうかを調べる解析を同時に行うことが可能である。本研究ではこの解析も行い、共鳴生成は現在のデータで見える範囲にはないことが示された。
In the research institute of the United States, the CDF has been involved in the precise measurement of the quality of the products. The quality of particles is measured with high accuracy and indirect significance. In particular, during the two years of this study, the average number of successful cases was about 3 points and 1 point was reduced in 1995 (the official best in 2004). (CDF When the average value of the model is more than half the time, the result of the model is used, and the standard model particles exist, the reliability of the model is about 160GeV. The words " This study was successful in correcting the problem. 100% of the standard model is very important for quality measurement. The CDF is responsible for ensuring the consistency of CDF's own information. When the mass of the object is measured, the kinematics of the object are completely reconstructed, and the resonance state is analyzed. In this study, the resonance generation is the result of the analysis.
