固体材料の動的剪断弾性率を強制ねじり振動法により振動数あるいは温度の関数として測定する装置を設計・製作し,固体材料中の欠陥の研究に必要な性能を達成した.鉄に固溶した侵入型溶質原子による力学緩和,巨大磁歪強磁性合金における磁気弾性効果,酸化物結晶における酸素イオン空孔による力学緩和,金属ガラスにおける構造緩和などを測定して,この装置が材料中の欠陥の同定・定量や力学物性のキャラクタリゼーションに有用であることを実証した.
