本研究では、これまでの研究成果を活かして、より高度で、柔軟な移動体通信ができるアドホック端末、携帯電話などの超高速移動体通信や、無線インターネット、アドホック無線LANを中心とする高度融合の次世代の高速・広帯域マルチメディア移動体無線通信ネットワークを対象にして、これまで解決されていなかった研究課題について研究を進め、高度に融合される高度な次世代の高速・広帯域マルチメディア移動体無線通信の実現への寄与を目指している。特に(1)高度融合の次世代の高速・広帯域マルチメディア移動体無線通信ネットワークにおける多段接続方式、マルチチャネル等の多重アクセス方式、そして異種トラヒックを対象とする無線移動通信ネットワークの構築とそのシステムモデルに関する性能解析及び性能評価を行った。(2)無線移動通信ネットワークの端末の移動性、無線LANハンドオーバーを考慮した、解析及び評価が極めて困難とされているシステムの確率的振舞い、各ホップ間、各端末間または各チャネル間の従属性を待ち行列理論及びコンピュータシミュレーション技法などを用いて解明した。(3)情報工学的見地からの次世代の高速・広帯域マルチメディア移動体無線通信ネットワークに関する性能解析や評価に適用できる多数の新しい厳密および近似解析法を提案し、数値結果によるこれらの方式の有効性を検証した。(4)周波数帯域配分の性能制御の最適化と最適パワー制御方式の提案と検証を行った。(5)移動体無線通信ネットワークにおけるルーティング制御と分散型制御に関する研究も行った。本研究の成果は次世代超高能率無線移動体通信ネットワークによる高度な広帯域マルチメディア移動体通信の実現に寄与したと評価できる。
