HIV宿主内進化過程を推定するための計算アルゴリズムvSPAを開発した。AIDS患者2症例から経時的に得られた1000個近いHIV-1サンプルへ適用した結果、薬剤耐性獲得に関連する突然変異などを検出することができた。バイオインフォマティクス手法を用いて、抗HIV剤治療を受けた1症例より経時的に採取したHIV-1サンプルから、GagとPR遺伝子間の共進化突然変異を推定した。さらにin vitro実験を行い、これらの同時変異が機能的に有意であることを確認した。

The evolution of HIV in the host is predicted by calculation and development of vSPA.
