知識創造の域外連関と生産や取引のそれとの間には明瞭な相関があり,域外連関は産業集積地域の再概念化のための有効な指標になりうる.ただし,域内・域外連関には,階層性がみられる.知識創造に積極的な企業は,企業間分業や社会的ネットワークなどの域外連関ともに活発であり,域外需要を域内もたらす役割を果たしている一方で,まだ少数派である.これに対して,多数派は,依然として域内連関に重点がある.上記の再概念化にあたっては,企業規模や業種,研究開発の沿革などの産業集積を構成する企業の特質に留意する必要がある.

Knowledge creation is related to production, acquisition and retrieval. The relationship between internal and external domains is not hierarchical. Knowledge creation is an active enterprise, a division between enterprises, and a society. The majority of the parties are still concerned about the key issues within the region. The above reconceptualization requires attention to the characteristics of the enterprise, such as the size of the enterprise, the evolution of the research and development, the composition of the industrial cluster, and the characteristics of the enterprise.
