富山市八尾町桐谷および小井波地域には大規模な地すべり地形が認められるが、この内の2事例はほぼ同じ時代(約2500BP)に発生している。大規模地すべりの誘因は地震であることが多く、これらの地すべりの誘因は跡津川断層の、飛越地震(1858)の一つ前の活動である可能性が高いことが明らかとなった。豪雨と海溝型地震を誘因として地すべりが発生している紀伊半島のいくつかの事例についても調査を行い、その発生年代や地質素因を明らかにした。
