山間山地地域を対象とした現地栽培調査から、作物栽培の生産基盤である地力維持方式として、対象全域で堆肥など多様な有機肥料に加えて化学肥料が補完的に施用されている。他方、"緑肥、野草、わら"の利用には地域差が存在しており、これらの地域特殊性は経営耕地規模や耕地の地形条件が大きく影響している。また、土壌の地力維持として微生物資材を用いることで有機性廃棄物である生ゴミ堆肥素材等の施用効果が高まった。
