RIG-Iその機能はいまだ明らかにされていない新規の遺伝子である。申請者はRIG-I遺伝子を用いた新たな遺伝子治療の可能性に着目し、これまで遂行してきたRIG-I遺伝子の機能解析に加え、口腔癌由来細胞株を用い、RIG-I遺伝子の腫瘍抑制遺伝子としての可能性を検討し、同遺伝子を用いた遺伝子治療につながる基礎的研究を行った。その結果、RIG-I遺伝子導入によって口腔癌由来細胞株においてG1/S期およびG2/M期進行が抑制されることが推測された。
