MFA撤廃とそれに伴う国際的な縫製品取引の競争が激化している中でも、ベトナムの縫製産業は一定の成長を実現している。しかしながらその産業内の企業パフォーマンスは一様でない。生産工程を中心とした高度化を実現し、競争力を強化した企業がある一方で、高度化がほとんど実現できず、労働力の確保すら困難な企業もあった。こうした高度化の可能性は、どのような仕向け先の生産・流通ネットワークといかに関わっているかという点が作用していることが明らかとなった。同時に、より知識集約度の高い機能をになうような高度化を実現するためには、国内市場が重要な役割を果たす可能性も明らかとなった。
