高解像度の衛星観測と気象シミュレーションデータを解析し、山形県庄内平野に吹き込む季節風は、ユーラシア大陸の地形の影響を受けつつ、日本海の海洋フロントによって段階的に気団変質を起こしていることを明らかにした。冬季季節風は、冬の日本海の海況や日本列島の気象に決定的に影響し、強い季節風が気象災害の原因となることもあった。本研究で明らかになった日本海における大気海洋陸域相互作用は、日本の冬の気象のさらなる理解に貢献する。

High resolution satellite measurements and images are analyzed in detail. Seasonal winds are blowing in the mountains and plains. The terrain of the mainland is affected by the weather. The sea of Japan is affected by the weather in the sea. Winter seasonal wind, winter sea conditions and weather conditions of the Japanese Islands determine the impact of strong seasonal wind and weather disasters. This study contributes to the understanding of the weather patterns in Japan and the interaction between the ocean and the land in the Sea of Japan.
