The "parliament" of the People's Republic of China

这项研究揭示了全国人民代表大会（NPC）——中华人民共和国的“议会”——以及人大代表的政治职能。迄今为止，关于当代中国政治的研究对人大的活动关注甚少，对人大代表的作用更是关注甚少。本研究填补了这方面学术文献的空白。此外，通过对省级人大代表的调查，该研究描述了迄今为止，其政治功能鲜为人知的代表如何为选择他们的选区提供利益。可以说，本研究为当代中国政治学者开辟了中国“议会制”政治研究的新领域提供了基础。

This study sheds light on the National People's Congress (NPC)-the "parliament" of the People's Republic of China-and the political functions of NPC delegates. To date, research on politics in contemporary China has paid scant attention to the activities of the NPC, and even less to the roles played by its delegates. This study fills the gap in scholarly literature on this topic. In addition, through a survey on NPC delegates in provincial areas, the study describes how delegates, whose political functions have until now been little known, work for the purpose of directing benefits to the constituencies that selected them. It could be said that this study provides scholars of politics in contemporary China with the basis for developing a new field of research on Chinese "parliamentary" politics.
